Garageflex recently completed a garage makeover for a client in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. Not only was Mr Fairley delighted with the results, he shared with us his thoughts on why now was the right time to undertake the transformation and what he was most pleased with.
Why did you have your garage made over?
Because I needed it tidied up and some storage added. I was fed up with spending time looking for what I needed and just wanted somewhere to put everything, clean it all up and enable me to get my car in the garage for once.
How did you go about finding someone to do it?
I had been thinking about it for a while and then one day a card appeared in my letterbox. I thought it was a good idea but still did nothing until I saw an advertisement by the same company in our local magazine.
How difficult was it to get it done right?
It was very straight forward. Garageflex sent someone round, Alastair asked all the right questions – or I gave him all the right answers! – we agreed a design and price, and within four weeks it was all done.
What do you like most about it?
This sounds corny but actually I like it all even though we are not using everything fully at the moment. It is so clean and tidy, it is light and bright and there is plenty of storage space. The system is so flexible that everything is so easy to move around. And for the first time in seven years living here, we can now get our cars in the garage. It is brilliant!

If you have a garage then you’ll know just how easy it is to dump everything in there to sort out another time. Or even to start thinking about it as a way to add value and convert it into a living space. But findings suggest that most home buyers find a garage very appealing and in some cases it can add as much as 15% to a property in a desirable area. So what should you do?
Keep it is the answer and give it a makeover. Ensure you are making the most of it with storage solutions that suit your needs and will be attractive to buyers if and when you come to sell. So think about what you do in your garage and what you want to use it for, that should answer the basic questions around how much storage you need and if you can designate particular areas to hobbies such as cycling, golf, tinkering with your beloved vintage car or bike.f you have a garage then you’ll know just how easy it is to dump everything in there to sort out another time. Hanging items off the walls are a great way to keep your garage looking neat and tidy. For example wall hooks can be used for hanging up garden tools and bike racks keep the bikes tidy too. Whilst you are in the mode of revamping, think about your floor. A tiled or resin floor can make all the difference and will last a lot longer than a painted finish which will soon peel and flake.
An upgraded garage doesn’t need to cost the earth. At Garageflex we offer both a design and installation service if you want us to do all the work or a DIY service where you can buy and install yourself.
Just remember, thinking now about storage and giving it a professional finish could make your house more attractive and reap the rewards in the future. What have you got to lose?
